Low Cost, Low Results
It was a low-cost service, so I had modest expectations. What I did not expect was a placement that offered so little practical promotional value. The placement was part of a five-person profile article published on MSN. There was an upcharge to be listed first, but I declined because I assumed the article would still make my inclusion clear and my section easy to find. Initially, the link opened to a page showing only the first person before a “Continue Reading” button. My name was not visible in the lead-in, so someone following the link would have no obvious reason to know I was included. To the company’s credit, they revised the article after I raised the issue and added my name to the lead. I appreciate that correction, and it is only fair to acknowledge it. However, a month later, I still cannot find the article through searches—even on MSN, where it was published. I understand that publishing an article does not guarantee search visibility, but discoverability was a large part of the promotional value I expected. The article exists, and the company addressed my initial complaint. But in my experience, the placement has provided little useful exposure. Adding my name to the lead improved the presentation; it did not resolve the difficulty of finding the article. For me, this was a waste of money, even at a low price. At this point, this review may end up being more visible than the article I paid for.

Hi Howard, Thank you for the balanced feedback, and for acknowledging that we revised the article and added your name to the lead once you raised it. On the lead-in visibility: because this is a five-person listicle format, the “Continue Reading” break is inherent to how the piece displays. That’s exactly what our premium first-position placement is designed to solve, being listed first puts your name in the lead-in from the start. It was offered up front, and we’d genuinely have recommended it for the visibility you were after. On search discoverability: indexing typically begins within a few weeks of publishing, but where a piece ranks, and how easily it surfaces for a given search, isn’t something any publisher can guarantee, as it depends on competition and factors outside our control. That’s why the direct article link is the most reliable way to share and showcase the feature. We appreciate you giving us the chance to make the correction, and we’re sorry the overall result didn’t meet your expectations. Best, Team DNA
