The first contact was very good, they were able to calm me down after the sextorsion happened.
The services are extremely expensive, and it is hard to verify what they are doing in phase 1 and phase 2. The only tell is the behavior of the scammers, who have not harassed me since (though there were many attempts).
The main difficulty is that I paid a signficant amount of money, and the report failed at delivering many of the intended services. The main thing, which is peace of mind, was given but for a very high price.
They told me in phase 2 that they would help take this case to international authorities but I got no follow up on that.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear our team was able to support and calm you during such a stressful situation.
We understand that cost is a significant concern, and we never take that lightly. Our services involve active mitigation, monitoring, documentation, and ongoing case management, but we also recognize that not all aspects of this work are always visible to clients.
Regarding Phase 2 and escalation to authorities, we would genuinely like to review your case to ensure appropriate follow-up was provided and clarify any misunderstandings about what was included in your package.
Please feel free to contact us directly with your case number so we can look into this further and address your concerns.

I hired Digital Forensics Corps to keep from being blackmailed. I was so stressed I was just hoping they could make it stop. First off this company must be extremely busy. I say this because after I was assigned a case worker and you call to get an update the usual call back was at least 6 hours. This was so frustrating and stressful. I had blackmailers wanting money and it seemed as if DFC didn't care. I will admit after 4 or 5 days they got them to stop but it will cost you over a grand. Also if you want updates good luck. If you are being harassed be prepared to stress out at least until they get it sorted.

I had a hard drive failure and contacted Digital Forensics Corp for their data recovery service. Initially I was offered several options of service level, as cheap as $99 and up to $1000 for the most rapid turn-around. Although the data recovery project was time-sensitive, I couldn't bring myself to pay more than $300 for the service, so I opted for a mid-tier service level.
They had minor technical difficulties the day I initiated the service request, but that was no big deal. By the next day they had a courier arrive and pick up my drive to take it for analysis. Within a day I heard back that the drive had some mechanical failure, that they thought they had a 90% chance of recovering the data, and that it would cost about $1500 total.
I had sticker shock, but given that I had already gotten started with them, I proceeded.
I wasn't promised any status updates, but would have appreciated at least one or two over the next week. I did call to ask for status once, and was told that they didn't have anything to report.
In roughly the expected/promised timeframe, they reported back that they had been able to recover the drive - of 1.7M files, they were able to recover all but 29! That was great!
We had a minor shipping miscommunication where their policy dictates that they have to ship the drive to the billing address (I work remotely in another state), and I wasn't aware of this until the drive showed up at our main office. But I received an external drive with my recovered files after a couple days.
The good news was that they had recovered most of the primary folder that I told them contained my most critical data. This was the most important objective for me.
The disappointing news was that I was clearly missing more than 29 files. After some back and forth with the company, and admittedly a little prodding via social media reviews, they did do a second recovery attempt to try and recover some files that I identified were not initially recovered. They did successfully recover another 1000+ files with this effort. I was still missing 1000s of files and was confused why they did not attempt to retrieve everything.
I reached out to them for clarification, and I think my communication got lost in the shuffle for a week or so. I did reach out again, and spoke with a customer support person, Paul, who was helpful in explaining a little bit of the process, and why they may have only retrieved some of the data.
All in all, I was thankful to get back (most of?) the most important files. The files I was missing were ones I could stand to lose, although it was a big pain to lose them.
I would have appreciated a more forthright communication of what was recovered - reporting that all but 29 files were recovered was incorrect, and when I first called them, the person I spoke to dismissed my complaint by saying that they did a great job recovering all but 29 of my 1.7M files. I'm not 100% sure I have everything important that I lost, but it looks like I've got most of it anyway.
In my opinion, I didn't get $1500 worth of service for this, but I'm thankful for what they were able to recover.
