Hi Lester, thank you so much for your thoughts here. You are correct, the 4 common date, ungraded items you submitted for a free appraisal are low value pieces. The appraised value we gave you accurately reflects this. To be clear, we did not make an offer to purchase as this collection is below our threshold. Common items like this do not require further visual inspection by a numismatist as there is a clear and well documented precedent for their value and their condition does not meaningfully impact that value. We understand from your note that you may have seen some articles or videos online suggesting these pieces were very valuable and can understand how that can be confusing. It is unfortunate that there is an abundance of misinformation around the internet about coins similar to the coins we appraised for you. The people that create this kind of content usually benefit from the number of people reading their articles or viewing their videos and unfortunately, are motivated to get viewers, not give accurate information. One of your notes seems to suggest that you may think one or more of your coins may be worth more because you suspect they have errors aka “misprints”. As we state on our website, we do not appraise error coins as error coins cannot be verified through pictures. We would advise anyone to use extreme caution when dealing with any company or individual that claims to be able to authenticate error coins via pictures as to our knowledge error authentication via pictures is not possible.
