Legitimate site with a so-so product
This is a legitimate site with a so-so product. It's primarily a compilation of free, publicly available information with some judgment/evaluation applied to it. If you're looking to be extremely thorough in your evaluation of a vehicle, this can modestly supplement other forms of available information. But you can also just review the NHTSA data directly, for free, and get most of the way there on your own.

Hi David, Thanks for taking the time to share your honest feedback — we really appreciate it. You’re right that our reports use publicly available NHTSA data, but we take it several steps further. Car IQ Report identifies emerging problem patterns, highlights which issues led to accidents, injuries or fires, and now even includes our new IQ Radar feature that flags active stop-sale orders. Our goal is to save shoppers hours of research and provide clarity that raw data alone doesn’t reveal. We’re always improving, and feedback like yours helps us make the experience even better. — The Car IQ Report Team
