We've been very fortunate with our tutor. We were matched with a young tutor in math that has connected very well with my son. He has prepared a tailored plan, addresses my son's weaknesses every week and sets homework in a thoughtful way. My son is improving every week, in session as well as through his homework.

Very good tutor in coding. My son started from scratch and is has now moved to python. It has also helped him with logic and thinking through his math problems.

My daughter joined Brilliant Grades in preparation for her SATs. We only had a few months to prepare but we were able to get just enough support to make an improve her scores. Our tutor was excellent and the administration gave us a lot of flexibility in fitting in sessions where we could. The practice tests help my daughter and she is very very satisfied now with her performance.

My daughter was doing well in this school, excelling academically but they have a very strict camera policy where they require full face on camera. She has some trauma and being on camera fully was very traumatic and she would just have her eyes - but this was not good enough for them. They kicked her out 1 day before school was due to start! Since they responded I want to add, I have multiple screenshots showing she was on camera from eyes up and most students were not full face either. Also they have never acknowledged the timing of waiting until the beginning of the school year to make this decision. Now they want to offer a private tutor option, unacceptable!

Response from Brilliant Microschools· Oct 25, 2023
Dear Danni, We are sorry you feel this way, as your daughter has been with us since September 2022, and we appreciate her positive academic progress during that time. We were disheartened she encountered difficulties with our camera policy despite efforts to support her through the three tiers of MTSS. Our camera policy is designed to maintain a sense of community within our diverse student body, and we recognize that it may not suit every student's individual needs. We also acknowledge the exhaustion of intervention tiers without satisfactory progress, leaving us unable to provide further levels of support. This policy, while stringent, is in place to ensure that all students receive the support and environment necessary for their success. In response to your daughter's situation, we reached out to offer a new alternative program—the One-on-One Private School Option. This personalized approach is designed to align more closely with your needs and preferences, acknowledging that not every student thrives in a traditional classroom setting, especially when cameras are involved. We have not yet received a response to this recent offer, but if you are open to it, we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further and explore alternative approaches that meet her needs. We are a text or email away if you would like more details, Danni, as we would love to hear from you in person.
Marella was our daughter's English tutor. She was very engaging and fun. My daughter really like her sessions with her.
