Boot.devReviews of boot.dev

I love this learning platform as it got hands on activities. I am looking forward to more courses and courses that would really help me with upskilling & certifications. I have been doing my courses since May 2026 and still keeps me going.

boot.dev is an amazing platform to learn how to be a software engineer. I don't have a computer science degree, and this platform has helped me to understand the core components of being a software engineer. The support is great; they even go out of scope to help you understand what you need, and the AI integration really provides an amazing learning experience. I hesitate to pay the subscription as the content is available for free, but you find hidden gems as you increase your level. I am really glad to find this platform that cares about students and how we learn.

Great learning experience and gamification mechanics. The platform offers good balance between challenge and support, it’s great that they were able to build an experience that even though is asynchronous and digital, it still pushes you towards actually learning what you are doing!

Boot.dev is a truly excellent platform for learning and understanding programming languages, operating systems and the fundamentals of computer science. It is suitable for both beginners and experts.

Low cost for what the experience is, realistic timeline and a full community behind it. I have taken a good chunk of the learning Python path and it is the best form of learning I have taken. Between the videos that explain every little detail quickly and efficiently to the AI instructor Boots, I've never been more addicted to learning a skill in my life. After I complete this course, I'll be diving in to more. The gamer in me is satisfied.

I started with Boot.dev in fall of 2024. They have continued to evolve and improve the platform and add new courses. Sometimes I think it is easy to go through the material a little quickly, so I've redone courses multiple times, and am a much better programmer for it. The Discord group is also very helpful. The gameification keeps it interesting, but if you are only doing it for that, you should probably reassess your priorities. Sometimes you have to slow down and mull over a topic and look up other learning materials to truly get it, and that can slow down the gaming side of things. All the material is freely available, so you can go through the first part with the interactivity available, and try out the rest of the course without the interactivity. If you get through the material and felt you learned something and think the interactivity is worth it, sign up! I do think some of the guided projects are a little too guided, and it would be good to practice problem solving more from scratch earlier in the courses, but you can also just do your own projects and share them to the Discord for feedback as well.

Bootdev took me from aimlessly learning language syntax and being stuck in tutorial hell, to actually building my own projects and learning programming instead of coding. I'm currently in university studying computer engineering and bootdev has provided a linear path containing pretty much everything I felt was missing in the software department of my degree.

Great courses, nice community... Everything you need to learn in one place. Probably the best course I've had as there are a lot of projects designed to put your skills to the test.
