Benchmade KnifeReviews of benchmade.com

I bought a custom Osborne for $325......$400 after the stuff they add on and shipping made it around $430. But the price is ridiculous when you can get better qaulity blades from Viper tec for around $90-180 for similar if not better. Decent knife. The blade is good qaulity but for over $400 you all are out of your mind charging that for a s90v steel blade. I have bought about 30 viper tec knives between $89 and $140 for a m390 blade. I will rate this a 1 star for it not being automatic for the price tag. I bought it thinking it would be like my $100 knives that I press a button and they open automatically, nope these blades are manual open no matter what. Not cool at all to charge this much for such junk craftsmanship. DO NOT EVER BUY FROM BENCHMADE. I bought from them as an experiment to see if it was better qaulity then the 40 viper tec blades i have and sure enough benchmade charges 4x more then any of the blades i have gotten from Viper tec, and viper tec blades are a better qaulity then benchmade, as well as the benchmade i got i was expecting it to be push button automatic. Nope it was completely manual and is pretty hard to flick open as well. All of the viper tecs i own you push a button and they open automatically with no manual effort required which will never wear out from the way they construct them. No2 benchmade on the other hand use skimpy parts that I believe will eventually wear out and break. They charge you out of the back end just for the name "benchmade" and man was that a mistake to ever trust myself to buy from them. I will never again as well as I will tell every person I come across online or in person to go to viper tec instead of going to benchmade because of the qaulity I have experienced. They are honestly such a disappointment of a company over charging the american people way too much with the hope for over the top products knowing how much they cost. But no they sell mediocre junk products that smaller companies can sell for 1/4 the price. I hope the owner of benchmade burns in hell.

I used my new to me Benchmade folding hunting knife on my Antelope hunt this last weekend and was sorely disappointed. This knife was a Birthday present from my wife cost over $300. I made it through just over half the Antelope before the knife was already too dull to use. Very disappointed!! I finished the Antelope with my $25 Civi that I used last year to process a whole deer without going dull. Seriously don't waste your money on Benchmade...

Customer service sucks. Overpriced knives.

Repair is a effing joke. I've sent multiple knives back more than once, because they either didn't fix it the first time, or damaged it while they had it.

Horrible. If you live in Canada get ready to pay for their life time warranty and sharpening. Never again, they are not worth all the frustration with customer service that can’t even send you a new handle to replace their defective product. $300 in the garbage.

My husband needed a reliable knife, so we spent $299 on a Benchmade Mini Infidel Auto. We’ve already sent it back twice because it won’t lock into place — and it STILL doesn’t work. At this point, it’s not just an inconvenience. It’s a safety risk. Carrying a knife that won’t lock is dangerous, and dealing with repeated warranty returns is unacceptable.

Benchmade has been a real let down lately. The quality and value just isn't there. For what benchmade charges, their products should much better than what they are.

I purchased a limited-edition Benchmade 940 Osborne (Lava Flow FatCarbon®), and the knife arrived with a factory defect — a visible crack in the carbon handle. On top of that, there were no markings, serial number, or any indication that it was a limited edition. Benchmade customer support initially acknowledged the defect, registered my case, and provided a prepaid UPS label. Because I was on a business trip, I couldn’t send the knife back immediately. I was told by a Benchmade representative (Michael) that once I returned, I only needed to email them the ticket number #434506, and they would issue a new prepaid label without any problem. That promise was not honored. When I contacted Benchmade exactly as instructed, instead of issuing the label, the support team claimed they had no record of my case and redirected me to fill out online warranty forms again. I submitted multiple service requests — including Order #11001082346 — and waited more than two weeks. All of them were canceled or left without any updates. The tracking page showed no progress, no service kit shipped, and no activity at all. I sent a detailed escalation email on November 10th asking for an update, and since then I’ve received no response whatsoever. At this point, I am deeply disappointed. This was my first Benchmade purchase, and the experience has been a complete failure — defective product, broken commitments, repeated delays, internal miscommunication, and complete lack of accountability from customer service. I still have a defective $400+ knife and no solution. This is not the level of service you expect from a premium brand.
