We went to Bella Italia in Exeter for afternoon tea. Food was nice and up to standard as it has been when I’ve visited the Plymouth restaurant previously, however service itself was dreadful - Very unhelpful and unfriendly! Would not visit the Exeter restaurant again.

Came over with a friend for 2-4-1 cocktails on Wednesday. First they did not want to serve us and told that it can’t be used. Secondly, the cocktails were just awful, like a water with some alcohol. Thirdly the restaurant was all dirty and tables were not cleaned. And finally a manager wasn’t very approachable.

Went to Bella Italia in Cambridge with my partner 4 days ago. Welcome (when someone eventually arrived to seat us) was lukewarm and our host seemed annoyed that we didn’t want to sit right next to other diners in an almost empty restaurant. Server was disinterested and looked as if he didn’t want to be there. My partner ordered strawberry cooler to drink and when it arrived was told half the ingredients were unavailable so ended up with fizzy strawberry juice. My spaghetti & meatballs was completely tasteless and both our portions were tiny. I was expecting an offer of grated Parmesan but none was offered. There was also no pepper on tables. For a bill of nearly £40 this was not an experience I will ever repeat.

I cannot fault the service and got a ***** finger bowl with my prawns. Better finger bowl than some five star hotels as there were plenty of napkins to wipe your hands too but there the excellence finished. Grossly overpriced and very indifferent food. Wine overpriced too. One of my guests had a burger 🍔 not very Italian I know but he was very underwhelmed and a small portion too. I have been here a couple of years ago and had Frito Misto which was lovely but the menu now includes Katsu Curry Pizza 🤷‍♀️ but no Frito Misto. Probably my last visit. Cabot Circus November 2019.
