Be prepared for lots of people that may not answer, be real or even bothered. Most people on there don't even have a demo of their playing or a picture even. This really should be mandatory! How can I know who's worth approaching if there's no evidence of ever having played in a band? It's amazing how many class themselves as advanced or expert with no evidence whatsoever. You'll also have to spend on a monthly subscription to directly contact anyone. Seems more like a waste of time to me and lots are on the site for no real reason. I believe a strike policy should exist. Fail to answer more than 3 contacts and instant account deactivation. It's not too much to ask of people even it's just to say, "no thanks." Guess some are so great a musician they think it beneath them. Don't pay for it. You'll find it's largely a waste of time and effort.

The concept of Bandmix is commendable, but the reality is that people who express their desire to play instruments, or perform as a vocalist, will not respond to your invitation to meet and audition. Though a few do respond, they'll claim they will not be able to commit to an audition, much less join a band. Another aspect of this service is their grouping members as being within your zip code, but they live in different cities--some towns as far as 50 miles away. The music business is notoriously populated with snobs, flakes, Hired Guns, and individuals with bad habits. Unfortunately, many of these Bandmix advertisers have a bad habit of ignoring your invitations.

Populated by dreamers, been a member for over 10 years, increasingly frustrated by lack of response from other premium members. Why advertise and put yourself out there if you can't be bothered to respond to interested parties?? Potentially a great platform, could be made even better if the site followed up on enquiries made to members, after all , if they don't respond not a good look for the site, hence this review. In addition, the site could make it easier for seekers and searchers by simplifying the search criteria. All too often an advertiser can be seen as wanting the list of all musicians, clearly they did not read/understand the criteria.

The bar for websites like this is obviously very, very low. So Bandmix gets at least one star for not being utterly hopeless like the others are. And another one for having some reasonable features. But ugh, the execution of those features... For example, what's with the pathological lack of transparency? The silent banning of links and contact details in profiles (www./.html What?), the dead ends (I've been invited to a "virtual audition"! How do I contact them to arrange a time? Buy a sub to reply? Haha, yeah. No.). I was contemplating a sub until I got the impression that even if I got one I'd be tricked into paying more. Then there's the generally weird navigation and features. Like 99% of all other websites let you edit your profile from your, er, profile page (usually linked to from a menu top right). But not Bandmix! There's messages in a "Messages" area, but then there are invitations for auditions in another area (which appears not to have a link to it so you have to get there from your email). How about mystery features like "Add to your music list"? What does that do? "Event calendar"? Why? Would it kill them to explain stuff somewhere? It's all so chaotic, weird and scammy feeling. Like it's made by a programmer who once had a drunken conversation with a musician and is now trying to recall what was said. In short, Bandmix makes me feel angry. Not a good emotion to be having and I better stop typing now.

My experience was similar to other reviews. I was enrolled in autopay without it being made clear. The same day, I contacted customer service to ask for a refund (their policy under F.A.Q. is that you can receive a refund within 10 days if you don't use any premium features). Three emails with no response and I can't find a phone number anywhere, and it's been more than 10 days now. I disabled autopay, but I'm canceling my account out of fear that they'll keep charging me. I gave two stars because I actually have made some good connections. But most of them were because people put their phone numbers or emails in their profile (which technically isn't even allowed).

So in a 15 month period, my ensemble (The Splendid Anachronisms), given we have posted ample information, photos, demo audio and video, have netted a big fat goose egg on successful connections, both in terms of adding talent to our effort, and venues we'd hope might spot us. As a matter of fact, most in the community I know have never heard of Bandmix.com. Bandmix has no criteria for quality control of its member content. I would estimate in the 80th percentile of listings don't even contain a photo, let alone demo audio/video material. Our presentation is straightforward, not claiming to be anything we're not, just an honest effort with reasonable objectives. Most Bandmix.com content seems to be either shadows behind no front material, or bar bands with no real focus on what they seek. Worst of all: Bandmix provides NO feedback forum or blog where members can voice concerns or ideas for improvement of the service. It's basically pay and you get what you get. Adding to the insult are periodic emails saying, "We have (x number of) new musicians near Columbia, MD," which reveals faceless llstings with no demo material, or others no where near my geographical area. This reflects simple "GIGO" data matching with little concern for the quality of the product to customers.

Bandmix is bizarre. Apparently everyone is a multi-instrumentalist - but its not clear what instrument they are skilled at. I think its really more of a poser/ self aggrandizement site than for musicians really looking to connect. Customer service is abysmal- you submit a request and it gets ignored. The good thing it is low cost but watch out it will automatically re-subscribe you if you dont uncheck the box.

There is Absolutely Nothing Wrong with Bandmix!!! Its the People that advertise on the site !! as High as 90% are Nothing but "Time Waisters " they dont even have the Decency to send a Short reply to say "Sorry Not available " even when you advertise that Gigs are Available!! .
