The American Massage Therapy Association is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools. We are guided by a volunteer national Board of Directors who sets the course for the association. As a member-driven organization, we are constantly in conversation with our members through surveys, phone calls, emails and social media to understand the diverse needs of all of our members and their hopes for the profession. We advocate for the issues important to massage therapists across the country at the federal, state and local levels of government. We promote the health benefits of massage to the public, the health care community and other important groups. AMTA provides its members with the strongest benefits in the massage therapy profession and has been serving our community for over 75 years.

I am very happy with AMTA. I have taken advantage of the website and CE with AMTA and have not had any issues. I hope to never need to make an insurance claim, but I have not doubt that AMTA will take good care of my business, if I needed to make a claim.

Blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of, and to serve on the executive board of the NY CHAPTER. Meeting like minded professionals at conferences is always an inspiration and motivation to do and be the better version of self, taking from the experience, and using the knowledge gained to serve to the highest power, for the greater good of all. The positive vibes is just so invigorating and refreshing, resulting in eagerness to be available to assist in whatever the organizations goals are. Thank you. Respect always , NEEETO a life long learner and supporter with passion.

The access to CEs is excellent

To be honest, I expect the AMTA to be lenient on LMT during Covid, yet we were still made to pay fees to the organization when most of us lost our jobs/income. I did not qualify for any additional help, nor could I collect unemployment. While I like CEU's offered (some free), I really think AMTA should have done more to help LMT's financially during Covid.

Hi Tina, thank you for reaching out. We know that the massage profession was hit hard by COVID, which is why we took steps to help our members during that difficult time. We offered up over $500,000 in dues relief to members who were up for renewal starting in late March of 2020. I see that you had just renewed at the end of February 2020 and therefore would not have received any of those communications. As you mentioned we did provide free CEUs, which have now totaled over 750,000 hours or $7 million worth of free CEU. As a non-profit in the massage industry we are always looking for ways to give back to the profession. Take care - Jeff at AMTA
I am always able to get ahold of someone with questions that I have had in the past. I was really impressed with the email and video of what they covered when the pandemic hit. I feel confident with my practice knowing I am supported and covered with AMTA. I have also utilized many of their discounts offered through massage book and ordering supplies. I have enjoyed the pathway they have set up for success and guidance in my practice.

Hi, Melissa, we’re sorry about the confusion you experienced. As an employee of Massage Envy you are eligible for an AMTA Professional membership paid for by your employer. The process for signing up for that membership is a bit different than you have experienced with AMTA in the past. A representative of the AMTA Member Experience team will be reaching out to you to help guide you through the process of obtaining your free AMTA membership. - Jeff at AMTA
