I have had a very frustrating experience with this autoship service. Twice now, my dog has received her medication late because the prescription was waiting for veterinary approval. Requiring approval for every refill creates unnecessary delays, and I was either not notified that there was a problem or notified too late to prevent a gap in her medication. Most recently, I called on a Thursday and was told the medication would be shipped using two day delivery, but it did not arrive until the following Wednesday. When pets depend on these medications, delays like this are unacceptable. The website is also difficult to navigate, which makes managing prescriptions and autoships even more frustrating. Because of these repeated issues, I have cancelled my account.

We'd like to clarify that Allivet does not require a new prescription approval for every AutoShip order if your veterinarian has authorized multiple refills. Once we receive a prescription with available refills, it remains on file and is used for future orders until the prescription expires or all authorized refills have been dispensed. I’ve just started using Auto-ship for my dog’s Rx. In the beginning, I mis-judged the time needed to receive the next package. When I tried to have it shipped early, it seemed nearly impossible, for me, to complete that task. Even after I thought I’d done everything right, a couple of days later, I checked my account and nothing had changed. I contacted Customer Service by chat (never could find a way to “speak” to a human), the agent was able to get my advance order straightened out. We had a short window to receive the item because we had a trip scheduled, leaving July 7th. When I got the shipping notification, it indicated the 8th, which meant it wouldn’t arrive until after we’d gone and my pup would have been on her own. Then, my Auto-ship was going to kick in and send ANOTHER item on July 15. I also was able to have the agent move that back a month but, now I don’t really know how many refills I have left. Ultimately, we had to buy an Rx from our Vet which, of course, defeated the purpose of Auto-ship. So far, my experience with Allivet and Auto-ship have been less than stellar.
