Avoid Amart’s SmartCare
Avoid Amart’s SmartCare Fabric Protection Plan (underwritten by Upcare International) at all costs. When purchasing furniture at Amart, floor staff heavily pitch this cover as comprehensive protection, promising that if your lounge suffers accidental stains or damage, a technician will come out to clean and restore it. In practice, the policy is essentially worthless. When an accidental spill occurred, the claim was immediately denied. Upcare routinely hides behind fine-print technicalities—citing arbitrary reporting deadlines and bundled "multiple areas of damage" exclusions—to reject claims and avoid sending a technician. Even after escalating the matter through NSW Fair Trading, Upcare flatly refused to provide a cleaning service or refund the plan fee, hiding behind their exclusions because Fair Trading’s mediation process is voluntary. The plan is sold on false promises that bear zero resemblance to how Upcare handles real-world claims. Save your money, skip the upsell at the counter, and hire an independent cleaner yourself if an accident ever happens.
