Proline Range HoodsReviews of prolinerangehoods.com

I am a kitchen remodel contractor. I purchased & installed a proline range hood. I found there were some noticeable internal rattling. The rear grease drip part that the 3 sections of metal grating goes into will not receive the 3 sections. I called tech support & was told to do the following: 1) disconnect the ductwork and remove the damper assembly on the unit. 2) they were unable to provide an answer as to why the 3 sections of grating were too big to fit the grease drip part. Due to the complexity of the ductwork installed & the taping of joints / connections- removing the internal damper is not an easy option to implement. The grease drip part not working in conjunction with the 3 grate parts is a poor design . Not having fixed this problem already is weak. As I’m sure proline has sold 1,000’s of these units and yet it has not been corrected. The tech guy I talked to was going to pull a model out of the warehouse and see for himself what the problem was with the grates not fitting the grease drip part . Says it would take weeks to accomplish this… it’s been a bit .. waiting still ..

We like the look and performance of hood. Company gave good service when we needed a new part shipped.

I purchased a 60" vent hood. When received the included manual noted that the required minimum ducting is 6" round or 10" square. In fact, the manual noted in part that 6" ducting was recommended. The hood is a good looking hood with plenty of CFM. However, when connected to a 6" round duct it has no air drawing capability. I contacted customer service and advised the unit can only be paired with 10" ducting. However, I did not have room for 10" of duct. I noted the install manual provides that 6" is sufficient and even sent pictures of the language in the manual. Proline did not seem to care that their manual is inaccurate and that I could not use the product. Proline offered no solutions so I'm stuck with an unusable vent hood. I would give 1 star but the item itself is very nice. However, do not rely on the information you receive from this vendor and do not expect good customer service.

I bought this range hood and expected great results. I had it installed and it didn’t sound right. The fan was wobbly on one side. I called customer service and they told me they would send a replacement motor. The replacement arrived, and I needed a handyman to install it. I paid an additional $200 on top of the 300. I’d already paid to have It installed. When he took it apart, the part they was The wrong part. I contacted customer service and they took over two weeks and many emails before I got the correct part. I had to pay another hundred dollars to have it installed. The frustration of all of this, and on top of that, the fan doesn’t work all that well. My smoke alarm still goes off when I cook anything on the stove. I would not recommend this product

Our just under one year old JW185.30 unit would intermittently shutdown for no reason......query made with Customer Service in Salt Lake City for remedy/ service. Jenn B. determined the issue would be solved with new replacement part (not a refurbished item) that provides power and fan speed settings........part coming under warranty coverage with no questions asked nor does one have to send back the original part item for resolution.

I live in British Columbia, Canada, just across the border. I discovered PROLINE RANGE HOODS on the Internet in an ad specifically targeting Canadian customers. I looked at their website and ordered a 1200 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) range hood for my kitchen reno. Shipping to the US across the border was $79.95 USD while shipping directly to Canada was $379.95 USD. I had them ship to Montana and paid the $79.95 USD shipping. I read their return policy and knew before ordering that I had to pay to return the hood if it had to be returned. The hood came in. I drove across the border to retrieve it, drove it back to Canada and paid the $399 CDN taxes at the border. When I got home, I discovered a lot of new information about range hoods that I didn't know: for one 1200 cfm is HUGE - for it's size my house requires 198 cfm. That wasn't PROLINE's fault. I should have researched better but at any rate, to install their range hood and comply with the building code, I would have had to add a make-up air system which would have cost me more than $11,000 CDN for the size of the hood I had ordered so, I had to return the hood I purchased to them. I contacted the company within the allowable 14 days for a full refund and they told me to ship the hood back to them using the same shipper and they would issue me a refund (to return it between 14 days and 30 days, the company charges an additional 20% restocking fee). I contacted FedEx Ground and they estimated the shipping costs at $631.00 USD - I was blown away. I expected the costs to be $79.95 USD. I later found out that PROLINE has a very discounted rate for using FedEx Ground and I didn't. I called PROLINE and asked for their account number so I could ship the range hood back. After all they were issuing me a refund and could deduct the cost incurred on their account from directly from the refund. In essence they told me "Tough luck, you're on your own to return it". I pleaded with them but they would not budge. My wife and I though about keeping the range and trying to sell it privately. The cost of the range was $2,378.00 USD (plus what the exchange rate and exchange fee from the credit card company cost me). We felt we would lose less money if we returned it. We returned the hood FedEx Ground. When I called FedEx a few days later, I was told that my invoice was $1,063 USD - I nearly flipped out. After negotiating with them, they reduced the invoice by 60% (a 60% discount for people who don't have an account??? Don't ask me why they didn't tell me that in the first place when I called them for an estimate). At any rate, better than $631 USD better than $1,063 USD. Final cost for shipping was $425.35 USD. PROLINE did refund me and we are done. In total I'm out $1,383.19 CDN in exchange rates, transactions fees and shipping charges, plus my gas to go pick up the range in Montana and return it there to be shipped back - I'll never get that money back. In my opinion, PROLINE's return policies are unethical and deceptive. I think they gamble on customers not returning products because of the high cost of shipping and they certainly have no interest in working with their customers to make this better. I would absolutely never recommend their company to anyone who doesn't live within driving distance from their offices/warehouse and even then, I don't know if they would accept products being driven to their offices and not require their customers to ship them back. If you're in Canada and thinking of dealing with this company, beware... As far as the quality of their product, while the hood looked esthetically good, I can't attest to the quality and reliability of the mechanism and working components because the hood was never installed. I bought an expensive hood from this company almost 4 years ago, it is a total lemon. The first repair was under warranty, then I had to pay for parts. I have spent thousands on appliance repair services and replaced the heat lamp button, the control buttons, the motherboard, the led lamps, and a fan capacitor. My last request for help was met with basically "we don't know what to do" and offered me 10% off a new one. I asked for the CEO/Owners email and never received a response. The cost to replace with a new quality hood will be thousands as the duct has to be moved and my exterior wall replastered and repainted. Don't buy this cheap Chinese junk. They'll tell you to pound sand once it's un-repairable.
