I guess I always liked how Petralia presents ugly truths. It also felt like no one really has answers and I didn't always agree with character actions. Because of that I think the emotions were unexpected and true to life.

I liked how Petralia describes the awkward interactions among characters, the things they desperately want to say but haven't. Those minor observations really humanized the writing.
