This bank advertises all across the country as an attempt to gain membership and assets. They are offering 3% cash back on bal transfers! This is a scam to run your credit and to get your personal info! Totally a fraud bank they won’t open a checking savings or any other account *** this is after obtaining personal info. Totally violating banking and security Laws. BEWARE OF THE SCAM BANKS!!

Makes the idealisim,member-owned, non-profit idea behind credit unions, all deception. No better than banks in any shape way or form. Don't fall for it.

I have called multiple times just trying to get my account number so I can make a payment, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. Each time, I’m placed on hold for long periods and asked repetitive and excessive verification questions. Even after providing my checking account information, driver’s license, and the last digits of my account, I’m still told I cannot be validated. It honestly feels like they are making it difficult on purpose, almost as if they want customers to fall behind on payments. I’ve now spent over 20 minutes on the phone without getting a simple answer or resolution. This kind of service is unacceptable. If you’re considering taking a loan with this company, be aware—this could impact your ability to stay current and ultimately affect your credit. Very disappointed with the lack of support and transparency.

We obtained a 18 month construction loan from MACU (Mountain America Credit Union). The initial sales experience was positive, which is not a surprise. The draw process throughout construction was not easy and according to many subs required information not typically required by any other construction loan bank they typically receive draws from. At the end we only needed 2 more weeks to complete the project and there was no human-relationship component to the construction loan process. Despite the house having twice the value of the loan once we finished, there was no flexibility to help us reach the end and receive our CO. We lost the option to adjust to the current interest rate and our interest was further increased by .25% points in order to get a 30 day extension, despite really only needing 2 more weeks to get our CO. We were able to find, qualify for and secure new lending that was 1.25% interest points lower than the MACU loan (due to the consequences of needing a 30 day extension), so we elected to refinance. MACU was extremely rude and difficult to us, the title company and our new loan banker. Our new bank said they had never experienced a bank that was as difficult as MACU to provide the industry standard information to allow us to refinance. We never would have left MACU if they had been more supportive and flexible at the end of the construction loan. We understand they are missing out on a lot of interest payments over the life of the loan, however customers come and go and refinance all of the time, so being difficult is unacceptable. There is no excuse for the difficulty we experienced to get our new loan closed. We are in the local construction industry and we will NOT be recommending MACU for future customers. We went with them because our loan was a "Home-owner builder construction loan", which is a more difficult type of construction loan to receive. In hindsight, I wish we would have gone with a local lender that would actually work "with" us, and not just be a bank for lending. Also their website is very outdated and not easy to use for payments. Do not use this bank for construction loan lending!

Mountain America Credit Union (MACU) to a different institution, but it technically requires refinancing—closing the old account and opening a new one, rather than a simple transfer. While your current mortgage lender may not allow a new second-position lien holder, other Utah lenders can often refinance the HELOC into their own first-position mortgage or as a new second lien, provided you have sufficient equity

Once a customer oriented and competitive in offerings. Currently this credit union continues to lose customers because of the lack of customer service, long wait times and consistently removing options that made them competitive.

This credit union does not understand court documents. The employees are rude, unhelpful, and grossly ignorant of basic financial institution responsibility. We actually filed a complaint with the NCUA over their incompetence. Stay away!

In an increasing online/digital banking environment, this bank absolutely bucks. I have yet to ever get satisfactory service over the phone for my business accounts. Will be switching as soon as feasible.
