Lichtsinn did not help out when Stellantis refused to pay
This is primarily about Stellantis but I wanted to point out that Lichtsinn did not step up to help this situation. I bought the RV from Lichtsinn Winnebago in Iowa in August of 2024 it was a brand new 2023 Winnebago Solis 59 PX with 150 miles on it. I also purchased the expensive extended warranty. As we were driving, maybe 100 miles since picking up the RV, I noticed a crack running along the base of the windshield. Called Lichtsinn Winnebago and they told me how to diagnose it to determine if it was a manufacturing defect since we did not see anything hit it. We could only feel the crack on the inside of the windshield, which meant it was a defect. Lichtsinn remarked that they have had a hard time getting Ram to pay for these defects. As we drove, it kept getting longer. This crack happened about a day before the engine died. Drove it 800 miles in total and the engine died leaving us stranded in South Dakota. Had it towed to Iverson Ram in Mitchell South Dakota after a 6 hour wait for a tow from RAM that never happened, so I had to call another company that came right away. Iverson could not look at the vehicle for 3 weeks and then we had to wait three more weeks for the part to come in and get replaced. I pointed out the crack in the windshield and they looked and said the windshield was backordered and we would not be able to get it by the time the repair was completed. They had no expected ship date. I had opened a case with Stellantis, case #90801512 and explained about the windshield as well as the engine dying and how we now have to fly home to Massachusetts last minute and the Stellantis representative said don't worry they would take care of everything and we would get reimbursed for our travel expenses, including the airfare to fly back out to SD. I never got reimbursed for the airfare! They lied! This was just the beginning of the lies and all the cases I had to keep opening because they kept closing them. The Stellantis phone system was horrible. I kept getting disconnected and couldn't get through to my case manager and the lines were always busy. I also had multiple case managers as there seems to be a high turnover. Finally after a few months they replaced their phone system. When Iverson gave me a date that the engine would be fixed I asked again about the windshield. It was still back ordered so I called Lichtsinn, as I did not want to drive all the way to Massachusetts from SD with a cracked windshield with a growing crack, and asked them what they do in this situation since they told me they've had defective windshields before and they said to use the person that they use and he would come to Lichtsinn to do the replacement windshield. It was now October, so we flew back out to South Dakota to pick up the RV and drive it to Iowa where Lichtsinn was located. I arranged for their windshield installer to replace the windshield and I texted him giving him the case number for Stellantis. I said I do not want to be responsible for this defect so make sure you contact this case manager. A few months later I heard from the windshield installer saying he still had not gotten paid and the case was closed. I called Stellantis opened another case, gave him the case number and thought all was well but this happened about 4 times more over the course of a year and a half! Now a year and a half later, I escalated the case (#96445378) and after many phone calls the woman I spoke with, said that only Ram dealers are allowed to Replace defective windshields and that Iverson never wrote up anything regarding the windshield and therefore they refused to pay for the windshield replacement! This is the first time anyone mentioned this after about 5 opened and closed cases! They will come up with any excuse not to pay! I called Lichtsinn and asked about the extended warranty covering it and they said it didn't. I asked them to step up after all the problems I had and they didn't! This should not be my responsibility to pay for the windshield. And as a side note, the generator on the RV stopped working Nov 2025 and it's now almost July 2026 and its still not fixed! Parts have not been available for 6 months and then when they finally come in and get installed more errors occur! Cummins had me take the generator from the Billerica repair shop to the Dedham shop that can't even look at it till July 29th! I'm writing this in hopes that Stellantis or Lichtsinn will finally pay for this defective windshield replacement. I will post this in as many places as possible so people know that they will not get any support from these companies. Iverson did not know either that Stellantis says I could have escalated the back order which is ridiculous that the dealer can't. Probably just another excuse! It would have been nice it the original case manager had told me the windshield had to be repaired at a RAM dealer!
