The battery only lasts for the day. The collar won't stay tight. The static isn't strong enough for the dog to even acknowledge or it's not static for enough time. My dog runs through the boundaries. It's not worth the price.

I'm really disappointed that Halo Collar has doubled the price of their subscription on us, I've been a user for nearly 2 years and I feel the need to voice this here. I do like the collar and think it's absolutely fair to charge a subscription for the software maintenance and features, but _doubling_ the price for long time customers seems just greedy. It feels bad because now I'm wondering, are they going to double the price again in another year? These kind of tactics just leave a bad taste in your mouth, even when you'd actually recommend the product for the most part. Now, I am less sure about making a recommendation. As for the collar itself: - Outside it works quite well. We have a lot of trees and sometimes I think they interfere with the GPS signal, but occasional false positives are okay in my opinion. I've never noticed it giving a false negative—that is, dog is outside the boundary and given no feedback. - It can be unreliable indoors. The best remedy is their Beacons, which create a safe zone, but they do cost extra.

Sometimes the collar works very well and sometimes it shocks our puppy for no reason at all. Unfortunately, it has too many bugs for me to trust this. I would have returned the collar if it was possible.

I just LOVE it that this field asks, “What went wrong this time?” How appropriate! I bought a Halo collar a couple of years ago and like many others loved it when it worked, which was inconsistently and short lived. The response of the collar was just not reliable- either failing to signal as needed or going off when my dog was well within her limits, which is a 3 acre area. Secondly, the collar build is not durable. A DOG collar at this price should be DOG durable! My dog’s collar started coming apart within three months. I sent it back for a replacement but the next one did the same thing. Within a few months I just gave it up. I came back here to see if there were improvements over the years and found that this is still the same old Halo. Great idea, but the technology is just not there yet. I’m disappointed but grateful for the honest reviews. I’ll invest my money on a more dependable system.

I was looking for a solution to keep our Vizla puppy within the boundaries of our property (about 1 acre). However, this system didn't work for us because of the following reasons: - The system is not suitable for dogs under 5 months (we had to wait 2 months for our puppy to reach that age and by then, the 60-day return window had closed). - The Mapbox picture of our property was outdated and, as a result, it was hard to establish accurate boundaries. - More importantly, the system requires extensive training based on positive reinforcement. It worked until it didn't: our dog is a hunting breed and would ignore the training and alerts when seeing a squirrel, cat, etc. I contacted customer services multiple times for a partial refund (while I was out of the refund window, it was because we had to wait for our dog to reach 5 months and the training took several weeks) to no avail. Do not recommend based on our personal experience.

Younger dogs, particularly those under 5-6 months, often have shorter attention spans, which can indeed make training more challenging. This is why we recommend using the Halo Collar for dogs that are at least 5 months old and weigh a minimum of 20 pounds. We apologize if this aspect contributed to your difficulties. Concerning the issue with the outdated map, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. To update the satellite imagery in the app, you can go to the 'My Map' tab, select the stack of paper icon, and then click on the "My map is outdated" button. This process should help in getting more accurate and up-to-date mapping for your property. Additionally, manually creating fence posts using the collar in hand can be an effective alternative. As for your dog’s instinctual behavior, especially given its hunting breed characteristics, we understand that certain stimuli like squirrels or cats can overpower training and alerts. I bought this collar brand new from Halo at the beginning of the year. Within two months the prongs had broke off inside the collar. I had to send it back and they sent me a refurbished one. I had just paid $650 for a brand new collar less than two months prior and they sent me a refurbished one. That one did not last long and they sent me another refurbished one. I have done everything they have told me to do and it still does not work. Do not waste your money on this, especially if you have a husky dog. The prongs are not long enough to reach through all of the for. The GPS tracking does not work properly. It constantly goes off inside the house. I was on the phone with Halo for an hour one day with him walking me all around my yard setting it up and it still does not work. I wished I would never have purchased.

Additionally, you might find it helpful to use an indoor beacon set to "Ignore Fences" mode. This can be placed inside your home to stop any unnecessary feedback to the collar. I would not recommend the Halo Collar. Most of the time it works well and I’m sure Cesar Millan is taking in lots of money. But months after my dog has gotten used to it, sporadically it says she is outside her home fence, when she is actually well inside the fence. Sometimes she is even inside the house, when the GPS is wrong and shocks her. I would like to stick this Halo Collar up Cesar Millan’s, you know what, and turn the shock level up to full power.

I would be cautious when buying from this company. The collars are quite expensive at $700 each and you still have to pay a monthly fee for service and warranties. The static prongs broke off flush in one of my collars within the first week and I have been fighting with the company for a week and a half trying to get them to replace it despite buying the warranty. The customer service is probably the worst that I’ve ever dealt with. It takes days for them to respond and no one has addressed the fact that they sent me a replacement collar that was an older model and refurbished. I’ve reached out three different times in efforts to correct this and continue to send messages with no response. I was very hopeful for this company and its services to work out well after moving to the country with two huskies in the country. However, in light of events, I would suggest looking at another company even if it’s more expensive. It might save you a lot of trouble in the long run. Overall review, the products are oversold with the attachment of a D list, celebrity name, and little extra commitment to customer satisfaction. It was exhibited that the products are not well-made, and the company does not seem to care about their clientele at all. I’m attaching my name so you can verify that this is a real post from a real customer who is actually going through the fight for what should’ve been a simple fix.
