CEO confirms exploitative “we owe you nothing” business model
I accepted FotoFetch job 004CC9 (“University – Bookstore”) after carefully reading their FAQ and terms, and I followed every requirement in the brief before and during the shoot. After I uploaded a full set of images that met those stated requirements, the company rejected the work and refused to pay the agreed dollar amount. The response came directly from the CEO (odd that the ceo is doing editing duties..), who stated in writing that they “purchase rights to content” only if they decide it meets their requirements and that I am not a contractor or employee, just a “supplier of digital goods” they can choose not to buy. When I pushed back and questioned their decision and the handling of my proprietary images, I received another message on a separate job (T#3005 – OpenAI – Georgia Southern University – Dining Commons, ID 004DC2) telling me they were “not wasting [their] time” with me anymore, that it was not worth their effort, and that my “threats to pursue legal action for my property are a joke.” Shortly after that, my account and access to the platform were removed. This response confirms that dismissing legitimate concerns and cutting off photographers who challenge them is part of how they choose to operate. Their process requires photographers to upload proprietary work to FotoFetch’s servers first, then they make a unilateral decision on payment afterward, while asking you to accept their unverified claim that rejected images are deleted and never used for the client, including high‑value clients such as OpenAI. My experience aligns closely with other public reviews that describe shifting requirements, convenient rejections, non‑payment, and account removal, and it reinforces the conclusion that this is a systemic practice, not an isolated incident. As a business owner who routinely delivers critical imaging and assessment work to commercial and government clients, I consider FotoFetch’s model unprofessional, disrespectful, and high‑risk for photographers.
