This review does not reflect how our service operates. Authenticate First is a **photo-based authentication service**. We do not receive, handle, ship, or take possession of any physical items. Customers upload images for evaluation, and all determinations are made remotely by experts reviewing those photos. There is no scenario in which we would have access to — or the ability to “lose” — anyone’s shoes or personal property. It appears this review may be referring to a different company or process entirely. Authenticate First

We would like to provide important context for readers. Authentication is a professional discipline based on experience, training, and technical analysis — regardless of which company performs it. No marketplace or resale platform has a monopoly on accuracy, and the fact that an item may have appeared elsewhere does not establish authenticity. It is also publicly documented that major resale platforms, including The RealReal, have faced lawsuits from luxury brands such as Chanel alleging the sale of counterfeit items on their platform. This demonstrates an important reality: even large companies with internal authentication teams can make incorrect determinations. Referencing another company’s listing or opinion does not invalidate an independent evaluation. Statements such as being able to “tell a real from a fake very easily” are not consistent with the reality of modern luxury counterfeiting, particularly with higher-grade replicas. Accurate authentication requires specialized knowledge and careful examination, not assumptions based on experience in retail or sales environments. Our determinations are made through structured expert review of the item’s observable characteristics and manufacturing indicators, using proprietary reference materials developed over many years in the industry. Authenticate First does have qualified expertise in Celine. The specialist who reviewed this item has more than 20 years of combined professional authentication experience and worked independently in the field prior to joining our team. Statements suggesting a lack of knowledge in this category are incorrect. It is also important for consumers to understand that differing opinions between authentication providers can occur. The existence of other opinions does not automatically establish that any one determination is correct or incorrect. Authentication is an unregulated industry without a single governing authority, and methodologies, reference materials, and expertise vary between providers. Offering a mail-in review is not unusual or inappropriate — it is simply an option for cases where a client wants a physical examination rather than a photo-based evaluation. Some clients prefer that additional level of review. We also recognize that most individuals are more likely to leave public feedback when they are dissatisfied rather than when services meet expectations. However, broad claims about dishonesty or lack of expertise do not accurately reflect the qualifications of our team or the scope of our work. Authenticate First

We would like to clarify several important points for readers. Comparing one item to other items someone already owns is not a reliable method of authentication unless the pieces being compared are from the exact same production period, factory, and materials batch. Luxury brands routinely produce variations across seasons, years, and manufacturing locations. Differences in feel, construction details, or finish alone do not establish that an item is counterfeit. It is also important to note that this brand operates outlet channels, which are known to produce merchandise with different materials or construction specifications compared to boutique lines. While we have no way of knowing the origin of the item referenced, this is one example of why perceived differences in quality compared to other owned items are not a valid basis for determining authenticity. Authentication requires specialized expertise and analysis of brand-specific indicators, not side-by-side comparison to unrelated items. Our MCM specialist has extensive professional experience in this category, and determinations are based on the observable manufacturing characteristics of the item submitted. Authenticate First has been in business since 2013 and uses trained human experts with category-specific knowledge to perform evaluations.

This review contains multiple inaccuracies and misconceptions that should be corrected for readers. First, the individual posting this review is **not a client** of our company and has not conducted business with us. Reviews are intended to reflect actual customer experiences, not third-party opinions or claims about items they have seen elsewhere. 1. **Gucci boutiques are not third-party authentication services.** Boutique staff are trained primarily in sales and client service. Many brands expressly instruct employees not to provide authentication opinions for outside purchases, and boutique “comparisons” are not a substitute for professional authentication standards. Repair intake is also not an independent certificate of authenticity. Even when someone brings an item into a boutique for comparison, unless the item being compared was produced in the **same year, same factory, and same production run**, it is not an identical reference point. Luxury brands have manufacturing variations across seasons, locations, and production batches. Side-by-side comparison to a different item does not establish authenticity. It is also important to understand that modern counterfeit production includes extremely high-grade “super fakes” that can and do pass through many authentication services — and would certainly mislead individuals who are not professionally trained in authentication analysis. This is precisely why expertise and structured evaluation methods matter. 2. **Photo-based authentication is a legitimate, widely used industry practice.** Remote authentication is how the majority of the secondary market operates at scale, including major platforms. Our process is based on professional review of the submitted images by trained experts using established criteria and proprietary reference materials. 3. **Our certificates are issued by Authenticate First — not Gucci or Kering.** We do not claim otherwise. Third-party authentication documents are separate from brand-issued documentation, and consumers should understand that distinction. 4. **Our contact methods are clearly provided.** We operate through email and the secure messaging system within each order on our website. This ensures documented communication tied directly to the client’s submission. The absence of a phone line does not indicate illegitimacy; it reflects a structured, traceable support process. 5. **Statements about reporting us or involving brand departments do not change the facts.** If someone believes documentation is being misused, the appropriate step is verification against the original submission. Finally, advising consumers that the “only” way to authenticate is to go to a boutique is incorrect and impractical. Brand boutiques are not designed to function as authentication providers, and that belief is one of the most common misconceptions in the resale market. Authenticate First
