I purchased kitchen cabinets from Home…
I purchased kitchen cabinets from Home Depot on June 29, 2026, as part of my kitchen remodeling project. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely frustrating due to delays, defective and incomplete cabinets, miscommunication, and the additional costs I am now facing. I received the first set of cabinets on August 7, 2026, but the order was missing several pieces. My contractors began installing the cabinets on August 27, 2026. Before installation, I inspected the cabinets for visible issues such as cracks, discoloration, damaged hinges, and other obvious defects. However, once the cabinets were installed, we discovered several problems that were not apparent before installation. These included: Gaps between cabinets Uneven cabinet doors Cabinets that did not align properly Incomplete or defective assembly Drawer fronts that appeared to be drawers but did not have the actual drawer assembly Additional defects that became noticeable after installation I immediately contacted Tasha, the Home Depot sales representative, explained the problems, and provided photographs so she could follow up. At that time, I was also trying to determine the status of the remaining cabinets and was advised that they would be delivered on September 11, 2026. There was also a misunderstanding involving Martez Douglas, the American Woodmark representative, regarding the pantry cabinet. Initially, I understood that the pantry would be provided at no charge because of issues I had previously experienced with another cabinetry company through Home Depot. I later learned that Home Depot and American Woodmark would have to determine how the pantry would be paid for before I could receive it. This resulted in yet another delay and communication issue. On September 15, 2026, Tasha contacted me and stated that she and the American Woodmark representative wanted to come to my home to inspect the cabinets. On September 19, 2026, Tasha, Whitney, and Martez came to my home and personally observed the problems with the cabinets. During the inspection, additional issues were identified. Martez attempted to make adjustments to some of the uneven cabinets and doors, but the adjustments did not correct the problems. Numerous notes were taken regarding the defective cabinets, and I was told that the replacement cabinets would be expedited. At this point, my primary concern is who will be responsible for removing the defective cabinets and properly installing the replacements. I hired and paid my own contractors to install these cabinets. I do not believe I should have to pay my contractors a second time to remove defective cabinets and then pay again to install replacement cabinets when the need for replacement is due to product defects and issues outside of my control. I explained that I believe American Woodmark and/or Home Depot should arrange and pay for the removal of the defective cabinets and installation of the replacement cabinets. I have already spent a significant amount of money on this remodeling project, and I should not incur additional labor expenses because defective or incomplete products were provided. At this point, I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. This situation has involved delays, missing pieces, defective products, incomplete cabinets, multiple communication issues, and unexpected additional expenses. I have been patient throughout this process, but I am now out of money and patience. I am requesting that Home Depot and American Woodmark provide a clear resolution that includes: Woodmark should have taken responsibility for not only replacing the cabinets but also covering the reasonable costs of removing the defective cabinets and reinstalling the replacements. I should not have to experience an additional financial burden due to product defects. I would not recommend Home Depot or American Woodmark at this time because of the poor communication, repeated delays, missing and defective cabinets, and the lack of a timely resolution. I have experienced multiple issues throughout this process, and I am now facing additional expenses to correct problems that were not caused by me. Until all defective cabinets are replaced, the installation concerns are addressed, and the additional costs are resolved fairly, I cannot confidently recommend either company to others.
